SnapText
Copy text from anywhere on your Mac's screen.
Needs macOS 13 or later.

HOW TO INSTALL

1. Drag SnapText into your Applications folder.

2. Open SnapText. The first time, macOS refuses to open it and says it
could not verify the app. That is expected: SnapText is free, and its
developer has not paid Apple to check it. To open it anyway:

     macOS 15 or later
       - Click Done on the warning.
       - Open System Settings > Privacy & Security and scroll down.
       - Next to the line about SnapText, click Open Anyway, then confirm
with your password or Touch ID.

     macOS 13 or 14
       - Hold Control and click SnapText, choose Open, then click Open.

   You only do this once.

3. SnapText asks to record the screen, which it needs in order to read
the text you select. Click Open System Settings, switch SnapText on,
   and choose Quit & Reopen.

HOW TO USE IT

Press Option-X, drag over any text on the screen, and paste it anywhere
with Command-V.

SnapText sits in the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click its icon to
change the shortcut, to start it automatically at login, or to quit.

IF MACOS SAYS SNAPTEXT "IS DAMAGED"

Open the Terminal app, paste this line, press Return, and open SnapText
again:

    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/SnapText.app

Only open apps from people you trust. SnapText does all its work on your
Mac and never connects to the internet.
